Never mind the rhythm ‘Hands, Knees & Bumps a Daisy’


The last week to 10 days have been pretty crazy and busy!  No change there then in our expectations of life.

When I blog I try and find a photo that will match the musing.  This morning I found some older ones taken ages ago of my colouring book.  One of my many things which come and go in waves.  Many hours spent just relaxing, very therapeutic.  Time to dig the books out again.

Some time ago I found a table top easel for sale, which I had wanted for ages with dreams of messing around with sketches. 

 Within the last 10 days I finally got to sit in the garden and have a go, I am quite pleased with the result so far.





I am really happy with the progress being made in the garden and looking forward to planting tomatoes, peppers, chillis and other things when the time is right.  I always get impatient at this time of year.  The spring onions are going great guns and looking good in the recycled plastic water bottles.  I have also re-potted the amaryllis bulbs from last year and they seem to be doing well.

My gardener has made a huge difference and he has helped me enormously.

After the visit from daughter and friend I have come out of the depression which I have felt since being in hospital.  I was very low and confused and there were lots of things I couldn’t understand had happened.  With the patience of a saint Mr D has pieced together most of the bits, which has helped me along.  Still a way to go but will get there.

Now I am feeling better I am hoping to find a backgammon partner to play once a week.  I made a visit to the club I set up last year but felt like I had no place there.  

I could always gate crash one of the coffee shops where the old Cypriot men play, except I would never be able to keep up as they play so fast.

Back to dentist on Monday for more work on the teeth.  She is incredibly kind and really looks after me as I completely turn to jelly.  All a bit embarrassing really!

Nothing really planned for today so may make a start on sorting out what has become a junk room.  I also need to contact Tom (the decorator) for him to quote for some work.  He painted our sitting room a while ago and we were thrilled.

It is my eldest brother’s funeral today. And I am completely unmoved. My daughter is going to the funeral. She barely remembers him from when she was little. There has been no contact between him and us since my mum died in 1984. There has, however, been some contact between his daughter with my sister and my daughter. My thoughts are with her. Ho, Ho, Ho

 Happy new year to all my lovely people who take the time to read my blog.  I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy conversing with you. We have had an excellent time over the last few days, as they say “it just keeps on giving “. We had to make some last minute adjustments to our plans due to me standing on a dog biscuit and suspecting I cracked a bone in my foot, which limited my mobility.  After spending last Christmas with a leg in plaster I was determined not to have an X-ray as it would probably have to go to Paphos Hospital and be plastered again! I don’t know how many of you have had the misfortune of the place but In my most opinion it is worst place to end up. The joys of Osteoporosis are endless. Anyway, our planned Christmas lunch out were cancelled and it was a quick shopping run for goodies.  First class leg of lamb and descent size chicken from Pambos the butcher and his very pleasant team, fresh veggies including the much loved brussels from Katies in Prodromi.  Sat

Steps and Stairs

Slowly my progress continues with what I hope to be my last visit to see the surgeon on Friday next week for one final X-ray! It has been a tough ride but with the backing of the physiotherapist and never ending support of my daughter and wonderful care from my husband we are near the final stages. It has been very apparent that we are not part of the local inner sanctum which can be very exclusive about who is or isn’t accepted. Being an introvert I am not particularly bothered but wish Mr D had been offered a helping hand occasionally.   But Team Douglas survived again. I have been able to make a gentle start on preparing the garden for an exciting season this year.  I was recommended a gardener who has already made a big difference.  I have never seen a gardener work so hard and keep a smile on his face. We are looking forward to warmer days and finding somewhere for us to enjoy the occasional glass of wine and beer at one of the local restaurants. Our usual haunt has, over the last
