Out with the old, in with the new.

 We often count our blessings about how fortunate we are lucky to be.  Not that we haven’t had gruelling times in our lives, but managed, thankfully, to overcome most of them. We have recently been overwhelmed with kindness and helpfulness from people we did not know.  Genuinely helpful, and giving encouraging words when needed without being intrusive. I find it very hard to ask for help and even harder to express my gratitude.  But it is truly felt. Our latest achievement is to finally be able to replace a well past its sell by date fridge/freezer which came with the house.  It has served us well but it’s time to go. It has been on the wish list for a couple of years, but all the better for having had to wait for it. I don’t like ‘clutter’ in the house and regularly see what I can send to the hospice charity shop.  Much to the silent annoyance of Mr D. But, out with the old, not particularly to in with the new but to give us space to breathe. Now, deep breath……

Country music. Or no country music?

 Welcome to my latest Blog. I have wanted to write a new blog for sometime but life sometimes gets in the way, I am glad to say. Wouldn’t it be awful if life did not consist of people actually wanting to read my blog. I thought I may write about love of Country Music, how it started and how it has affected me. It is a long road and I think I will try to do it in a weekly series.  I do hope you enjoy it. Once upon a time, many years ago, there was a girl who spent most of her time wondering why she was always in trouble with her parents, teachers and usually anyone else she came in contact with.   Apart from the Captain of the local branch of The Girls Life Brigade.  She was a nice lady who never shouted at or told the members off.  So maybe the girl wasn’t so naughty. When the girl was 12 her parents separated, this was in 1963.  In those days it was unheard of in a working class family. They had to stick together come what May.  The girl and her siblings were told not to tell anyone,
