It is my eldest brother’s funeral today. And I am completely unmoved. My daughter is going to the funeral. She barely remembers him from when she was little. There has been no contact between him and us since my mum died in 1984. There has, however, been some contact between his daughter with my sister and my daughter. My thoughts are with her. I am glad my daughter has gone today. Lines must be kept open. The weird thing is I am the only one left from the four siblings. Today, my thoughts are with: Robert George Trowbridge (1949 - 1965) (brother) William Wilson (1909 - 1976) (grandfather) Dorothy Lavinia Florence Trowbridge (1929 - 1984) (mother) Roy William Henry Wilson (1928 - 1987) (maternal uncle) Florence Ann Wilson (1907 - 1999) (maternal grandmother). Susan Jane Grant - nee Trowbridge - (1957 - 2018) (sister) Thoughts also go to all the people who are bereaved, that they can find the strength to remember the happy times they were able to have with their loved ones.

Steps and Stairs

Slowly my progress continues with what I hope to be my last visit to see the surgeon on Friday next week for one final X-ray! It has been a tough ride but with the backing of the physiotherapist and never ending support of my daughter and wonderful care from my husband we are near the final stages. It has been very apparent that we are not part of the local inner sanctum which can be very exclusive about who is or isn’t accepted. Being an introvert I am not particularly bothered but wish Mr D had been offered a helping hand occasionally.   But Team Douglas survived again. I have been able to make a gentle start on preparing the garden for an exciting season this year.  I was recommended a gardener who has already made a big difference.  I have never seen a gardener work so hard and keep a smile on his face. We are looking forward to warmer days and finding somewhere for us to enjoy the occasional glass of wine and beer at one of the local restaurants. Our usual haunt has,...

Ho, Ho, Ho

 Happy new year to all my lovely people who take the time to read my blog.  I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy conversing with you. We have had an excellent time over the last few days, as they say “it just keeps on giving “. We had to make some last minute adjustments to our plans due to me standing on a dog biscuit and suspecting I cracked a bone in my foot, which limited my mobility.  After spending last Christmas with a leg in plaster I was determined not to have an X-ray as it would probably have to go to Paphos Hospital and be plastered again! I don’t know how many of you have had the misfortune of the place but In my most opinion it is worst place to end up. The joys of Osteoporosis are endless. Anyway, our planned Christmas lunch out were cancelled and it was a quick shopping run for goodies.  First class leg of lamb and descent size chicken from Pambos the butcher and his very pleasant team, fresh veggies including the much loved brussels from Katie...
