New Life….

Image
Sadly, our beloved dog Daisy passed away suddenly in June, leaving us heartbroken.   No reason or explanation, just a sad goodbye in her last minutes.  At least we were with her. We are now “chumans” to Oscar.  He does not replace Daisy but has become part of our family.  He is settling in and getting used to living in a house.  His usual lifestyle was to be kept outside.   I am letting him and the cats find their own place in the pecking order.  Seems to be working so far. Oscar is about half the size of Daisy so we had to make the garden safe.  €300 and them some.  Oooppps, miss a bit so he took himself off for a little run,  thankfully it didn’t take long to find him and he does answer to his name.  Double checked fence and think it is ok now.  The escape was through the back of the log store! We have been dealing with high temperature for weeks now, and had to stop watering the plants so garden has been shut down early.  I must say I enjoyed working on it but crops not very good.

Expecting Daisy’s ashes

We have been busy making a special place in the garden where we can scatter Daisy’s ashes which we are expecting to be returned to us today.  The spot is where after scoring a ‘goal’ into the swimming pool with her beloved football, and zooming around the garden, she would have a quick dig, thinking we didn’t know what she was up to. We have also made her house into a place for her toys and bits and pieces.  We could not bring ourselves to get rid of them.  It would seem cruel. Daisy and our cats always had a love/niggled/ oh, OK then/live relationship.  Much the same with Big Ted, who was a gift to me from my sister some years ago.  I think their relationship was more “you keep to your space and I will patrol the rest”.  It seemed to work. Big Ted wanted to look his very best for the occasion so borrowed a couple of things from Mr D - and looks very smart. It’s going to be tough, but hopefully will provide us with some comfort. Thanks for reading.

It is interesting that views of my blog over the last 30 days is as follows: Hong Kong - 730 Why the hell would 730 people in Hong Kong want to read a blog by and seventy something year old, retired English lady, living in Cyprus? It can’t be because they are interested in my garden, musings, pets, or any other rubbish I write. Cyprus - 41 Maybe people wonder what we find to do in this country that we have moved to.  Simply answer, have you looked at the state of U.K. recently? China - 20 This one is a bit spooky,  I am sure Chinese people have more important things on their minds than my rambles. U.K. - 17 I suspect most of these views will mainly be my daughter.  I don’t have any other connections with England. Switzerland - 8 Over the last few months there has been a growing number of people dropping in. Australia - 1 I suspect a slight slip of the keyboard. U.S.A - 1 Definitely a slip of the keyboard. ‘Other’ - 6 What the hell is this about?  Aliens? Not important enough to be i

Why blog short when you can take time and tell the whole story?

I made a start in this blog three days ago, and then I was seriously side tracked with other things.  But - no distractions today, I have done the essential things and am about to set to. At the moment I’m on my bed with Daisy Dog and Honey Cat waiting for the upcoming storm. Storm clouds gathering at the back of our house. Some of the things getting in my way… Curtains I have needed “net” curtains for some time.  The ones that we inherited when we moved in have been long past their prime for ages.  I was lucky enough to spot someone who was selling some which were very much in keeping with our taste.  They replaced all existing nets and have given a fresh look to the windows. My lady who helps me with difficult things was happy going up and down the ladder and hang all with a touch of ideas to set them apart.  I am very lucky to have her help me and take on stuff I find too difficult. hair cut Having been treated very badly by a hairdresser and being accused of  “that’s the trouble w
